Deep Side Part + Skinny Side Braid Tutorial
1. Part wet hair deep on one side. I use the outside of my eyebrow as a guide and go straight up from there. WARNING: if you go too far over it’s going to look like a bad old man comb over. If you have to ask if it’s too deep it probably is…
2. Spritz your damp hair with a heat protection product. I use this one.
3. Blow dry your part to set it- My hair tends to rebel and want to creep back to my usual part but it stays put much longer if I blow it dry. Here’s a great salon-style blow out tutorial you can do yourself.
4. On the short side of the part, take a thin section of hair from the part to your ear, divide the section in in three then braid. Keep your fingers close to your head as you move to the center of the back of your head. Secure the braid with a small clear elastic like these,
then with two bobby pins. I use these.
You could also do a French braid, Dutch braid, or corn rows.
5. On the long side, get volume by back combing with a brush like this.
Several of my friends rave about this volumizing powder.
I haven’t tried it…yet!
6. Finish with a little hair spray
and you are good to go.
I love this hairstyle because it is REALLY easy yet looks pretty rad.
Since I straighten my hair recently I think I want to try this style.
Very pretty! Love the braids!

This is a super cute hair style. I’ll have to show it to my daughter. She loves braiding her hair.
This is cute! And I love your glasses!
I love braids and this one is super cute. It looks really easy to do and play around with for different looks. Thanks for sharing.
You make this look so easy! Too adorable
This is very cute! My daughter has a natural deep part so this will work great!
This is so cute. I want to try it with both mine and my daughter’s hair
I love, LOVE, braids. This looks is one of my favorites.
My daughter has a competition this weekend and was talking about doing that braid.. right on par!
Your hair is gorgeous. I love little side braids like this! When I was little I would always do one braid on each side and then join them at the back and think I was a princess haha
Meeee tooooo! Love it!
Oh that’s cute! I’m terrible at braids.. so these tutorials are great for me! Pinning!
That’s a really cute hair do. Shame my pixie cut isn’t really up for side braids
Love this look. And I think I could actually pull this off!
I usually do side parts, but not deep ones. Love the added braid – will be trying this later today
This is cute! I never do anything with my hair so this would be a simple and elegant way to change it up! Thanks!
So simple and pretty!
I love your hair! What a cute idea!
Super pretty! I need to learn how to do more hairstyles aside from just letting it hang out, or low ponytails.
Maybe I can start here!
I wear my hair a lot to the side and this is an awesome way to spice it up!
This is so beautiful! I am loving the braid trend because it’s something that works for even curly haired girls like myself. This tutorial makes it seem so simple. I will have to try this on my girls. Thanks for the inspiration!
Thank you so much, Nada! My girls and I love braids, too!
